Increase Alexa Rank Fast 2016

Increase Alexa Rank Fast

If you are reading this post, I take it that you have heard about Alexa ranking. When you heard about Alexa for the first time 2 or more question popped into your head. These questions most likely include; is Alexa rank important and how do I increase my website’s Alexa Rank fast. You probably Googled trying to find the answers, but was overwhelmed with the differences in opinion.

What is Alexa Ranking?

Founded as an independent company in 1996, Alexa was acquired by Amazon in 1999. It is a web information or web traffic data company. Alexa tracks the visitors and page views of your website for determining its popularity. Meaning that the more visitors your site gets per day, the more popular your website is according to Alexa. If we put this on a scale from 1 to 10o, it means that if your website has a ranking of 1, it is the most popular and if it has a ranking of 100, it is the least popular. Alexa just uses a much larger scale (over 30,000,000).

Like Google Alexa also has an analytical function. For example; it will track visitor origins and links to your website.  You can also register for a professional account and have even more tools and features at your disposal. The important question here is, “Will subscribing to Alexa Pro increase Alexa Rank?” and the quick answer is no. Alexa.com will not favor your website just because you invested.
However, I will be showing you some steps to increase Alexa Rank fast, but first a little about the importance of Alexa ranking.

Is Alexa Rank Important?

There are no sure answer to this question, but it does carry a certain agree of importance. Firstly, if you have a good Alexa rank, it displays well on paper and gives you bragging rights. Secondly, many web services and people takes a look at your Alexa rank to determine the importance of your website. Many people will not take a second look at your website if it has a bad Alexa rank.
As I mentioned previously, it is somewhat important, but not as important as the Google Rank. You will find that most direct advertisers will keep an eye on your Alexa rank to determine if they would like to advertise on your website.

Increase your website’s Alexa Rank Fast

Before we continue, a note of caution; stay away from automatic surfing services claiming to increase your Alexa rank. It is not ethical and using them can quickly give your website a bad name. I should know because I’ve tried them on some other domains and it did not work out so well. Furthermore, when you start monetizing your website, automatic surfing programs breaks the terms of all the ad services (Google AdSense) I know about.  Your respective accounts will be banned quicker than you can say, “I just got a hundred visitors to my website”.
Now we can get down to business. How to get a ranking from Alexa and increase it:

Step 1) Claim your website

The first thing you must do before anything else is register for a free account at Alexa and claim your website. With their new design you can lose your mind trying to find the place to claim your website. The link is located at the bottom of their Plans and Pricing page. The hard to find text reads, “You can create basic site comparisons or claim a site with a free Alexa account.”  From here it should be a little easier. Click on free Alexa account to create an account and then on claim a site to claim your website.
To claim your website; on the Claim your Site page, enter your website URL and click Continue. Click on the verification method you are comfortable with to continue.
In WordPress you can use the Yoast SEO plugin to verify your site. Take a look at Webmaster Toolsin the General Settings section.
If you are not using WordPress, simply copy the profided code and place it just after the <head> tag on your home page (normally index.html or index.php)

Step 2) Install the Alexa widget on your website

One fact about the Alexa ranking algorithm is that it gives more weightage to traffic passing through their system. This is why installing an Alexa widget on your website and installing the Alexa toolbar(the third step) will help to increase your Alexa rank.
I found the instructions for installing the Alexa widget here. To install the Alexa widget on your website. In the code snippets below, change the yoursite.com to your website and copy and paste it into the HTML of every page you would like to track. If  you are using WordPress, paste the code into a text widget.

Step 3) Install the Alexa Firefox Extension

Installing the Alexa Firefox Extension will not increase your rank significantly. I don’t even think you will notice the diffidence, so, you can skip this step without causing any harm to your ranking. You can install the Alexa Firefox Extension from here.

Step 4) Generate Search Engine Traffic

Search engine traffic is quality traffic you can receive from people searching for a term in a search engine and reaching your website. Search engine traffic will not only increase your Alexa rank, but you will see your ranking go up for other search engines also.
This step involves generating needed search engine traffic. This is not the easiest thing to do and it takes time. I will not be discussing this topic in detail, because that could fill a few articles. However, I will give you some tips on how to generate quality search engine traffic for your website.
  • Use WordPress as a blogging platform wherever you can (Search Engines love it).
  • Write unique and informative articles: Make sure it is easy to read; include paragraphs, headings and some images. The readability of your articles will also promote engagement and can also improve your ranking on some Search Engines.
  • Make sure the articles you write has a good length: Between 300 and 1000 words will do. However, you do not need to concentrate on the length, just make sure that they are topic specific and informative. This will help you with post engagement.
  • Publish at least one article per day and always be persistent: Keep your website current.
  • Do not worry much about keyword research: Just write about stuff you love and the rest will follow automatically.
  • Submit your website to the top search engines.

Step 5) Promote your website

With over 60,000,000 websites out there, promoting your humble creation is getting harder. There are no shortcuts to good promotion, unless you have the money to pay for advertisements. Hopefully I will be able to give you some pointers to get started without spending thousands.
    • Spread the word manually: Ask your friends to take a look at your website. Create some business cards and give it out every time you speak to someone.
    • Add a link to your website in all your email footers.
    • Use social networks to promote it, but never spam your friends: Just naturally mention it in a conversation or send two or free PM’s (Personal Messages) a day. Read the Taking Advantage of Social Signals article for more on Social Marketing.

Conclusion

Trying to get a website off the ground is hard and takes time. There are no shortcuts to success. Be consistent and never give up, you never know when it will start showing improvement. When it comes down to Search Engine ranking, do not obsess about it. Optimize your website the best you can and let your ranking grow naturally. One last thing; Do not force people to visit your website, if it is good they will find it.
